CHeck Engine Light: P0171 code
My check engine light is on in my Saab 9-3 (1999). I dropped my OBDII scanner on it.
The code lists:
P0171 Cnf Mod10
Bank 1 System Too Lean
Google says: Lean Mixture = Too much air, not enough fuel
Google indicates that there may be any number of problems including needing a new MAF Sensor (Mass Air Flow Sensor). Honestly, not sure how to troubleshoot this issue.
Google also says:
Common Problems That Trigger the P0171 Code
•Control module software needs to be updated
•Vacuum leaks (intake manifold gaskets, vacuum hoses, PCV hoses, etc.)
•Mass air flow sensor
•Plugged fuel filter or weak fuel pump
•Plugged or dirty fuel injectors
How do I troubleshoot this issue?

Start ticking the easy items off the list, some of those are normal maintenance items. When was the last time you replaced the fuel filter and cleaned the MAF?
