HG fear....

So I bought a 2001 93 se a few weeks ago and some colds starts tend to be difficult.. Missfiring and loud wine untill it warns up slightly and smoothens out, after a while I had finally got a cel for it, turns out I'd was the dic. Bought a used one and put it in... Some cold starts are fine and others I get a slight misfiring but nowhere as bad as before. But the whine still persists.. Not sure if its the alternator or waterpump.. Now ever week and a half my fill coolant res pops up on the SID, but there is no visual proof of leaking coolant, the bottom of the motor is wet but is from a leaky valve cover gasket. So just the other morning when I cold started it a big poof of white smoke came out the exhaust at the same time the car did its little misfire dance, but that was the first and last time she puffed smoke.. And just 20min ago as I parked my car after getting home from work a heat hose blew apart at the head and the hose dosnt look old at all.. Is this signs of HG replacement time?

Whine that goes away is probably a idler pulley for the serpentine belt.

And yeah. Probably time for a new HG

If you post a video, we could help you better with diagnosing the car. Sometimes a whine is hydraulic; when the oil pump attempts to get cold, viscous oil past a blocked pickup screen, it makes a godawful whine. Given that yours is a T7 car, the likelihood of it being sludged is rather high. The power steering also whines if the pump is shot.
