Oil return O-Ring

So I just had my turbo out for some maintenance and when I turned it back on there was oil pouring out of the return line into the engine block. So my question is, is it better to put the o-ring in the block and then the tube or put it on the tube and push both of them in the block? Any help would be appreciated because I honestly don't remember which way I did it and it clearly was not the right way

put the O-ring on the tube, then insert it into the block. It does take some force to install, but it should be a tight fit.

well thanks as always for answering my noob questions but this time it wasn't my fault eeuroparts must have sent me the wrong part or gotten a new parts supplier or something because the new ring was ever so slightly too large. I tried it on an extra tube and extra block and it never fit but every time I used an old extra one it fit just fine. I'm gonna keep an eye on it but so far so good...
