Worn automatic transmission?
I have a 2005 Saab 9-5 with a 2.3 engine (uprated with T5 pistons, 630 cc injectors, aluminium intercooler and Maptun Stage 1+ remap). The engine has done about 21 000 miles. The car has done about 149 000 miles.
When I bought the car back in 2011 it had this strange noise, kind of metal grinding towards metal. It did not go away when the engine was rebuilt.
If I lock the transmission in fifth gear (M + 5) at 55 mph and press the accelerator, the sound is really bad.
The transmission never slips, and the oil has been frequently replaced using the correct oil (JWS3309) at the correct intervals.
Could the transmission or the converter be on its way out the door?
