9-5 aero misfire problem

last night i was driving my girlfriends automatic 9-5 aero. i was cruising 45-50 at about a grand and a half. i pressed the gas and could instantly tell there was a huge power loss. i try to slow down and pull over and the car stalls out. go to try and start it and it turned over sputtered at about 300-500 rpms for a few seconds then died. from there all it would do was turn over and start then die. i thought the throttle body was in limp home mode again but i did not need to be reset. there was a blinking check engine light but i did not catch the sequence.i pulled the DIC off and i think it may be faulty; im going to swap out a good one that my buddy has off a 9-5 he just bought. any other troubleshooting i can do? what does this sound like to you guys? if the DIC isnt the problem i was thinking either the spark plugs or a clogged injector or something. any other ideas?

thanks

problem solved. i took apart the dic and inside i saw 4 metal coils two of which were not making metal to metal contact so the spark plugs werent igniting. i managed to arrange the coils and got the car running. going to wait for a new dic until it sees the road as this dic is very fragile
