1999 9-5 finally replaced the crank position sensor

I know this repair is old hat to many but if you're doing it for the first time, it's not hard.
If I remember correctly, back when I had my '82 Beemer, we called these Hall effect switches.
You should have a T-30 Torx socket, a good universal adapter and about 18" of extensions between your ratchet and Torx.
I know we are all different, but that arrangement worked well for me.
The CPS fastener isn't hard to find and you can get it from above. Shoot some penetrant on the screw and take care in getting the Torx properly into the screw socket.
A long needle nose plies helped me. I used it to remove the screw and heat shield as my fingers are kind of big. Also an O-ring pick or awl might help to remove the old O-ring if it does not come out with the old sensor. Just don't leave it in. Make sure you get it out.
Lastly, be sure to clean out the CPS socket before you install the new one. There is a lot of grease and grit there.
