2002 9-5 Aero Random Warning lights on/off

My parents have a 2002 9-5 Aero that today on their drive to the cape in the rain had some weird issues.

they tried to set the cruise control and suddenly all the dash lights and gauges turned off and then came back on with warning lights and the big orange triangle then a few minutes later went away. This happened twice. Once while trying to set the cruise and again without the cruise on.

No message on SID and no apparent loss in performance or control.

a quick search online points towards ABS/ESP/TCS module or communication to the module failing.

they don't have a code reader but I am directing them somewhere to pull the code and send a pic next time it happens.

until then any ideas?

If the speedo stops working, than it is more than likely the ABS unit. and no speedo=no cruise controll

that was my thought too. it happened one more time and this time right after lightly pressing the brakes but this time the whole car shut off.

so i'm thinking abs or bad electrical somewhere.

they are gonna hit up an autozone or something and get me the codes tomorrow
