My car's front suspension makes a sort of clunking noise whenever it goes over bumps. I'm thinking that it might be a problem with the bushings, but I'm not sure. It's really annoying and I'm not sure whether or not this is covered under warranty if there is any problem. So what do you guys think?
If it is covered, I will need a diagnosis quick because my warranty runs out in March, I believe. |

What is themileage? Strut mounts make a clunk, but so do a lot of other things. I'm thinking strut mounts should last around 100k, but sway bar links would be less and they can clunk as well.

43k. I'm stumped... I'm hoping it's nothing serious like a CV joint or something, but I don't think that would make a clunking noise. |

Nah, CV is not over bumps. I would really think sway bar drop link. This seems to be one of the weaker parts of the front suspension.

ball joints can clunk, but they should not be worn after 43k haha, Bushings loose bolts, bad sturt mounts, loose sturt mount bolts. If the car is under waranty at least have the dealer look at it. Otherwise get under there your self, and take a look. OR push down on the car from the outside and see if you can narrow down where the clunk is coming from

I just got it fixed last week. Apparently Stromer was right... it was the sway bar links. Now it's pretty quiet.

if its cold, its probly the front swaybar bushing, they make noise when its cold, get used to it. I thought it was my struts last year, but i have enw struts now, and it still makes noise when its pretty cold out, i asked my mech. and he said not to worry about it, its just the bushings making noise. Maybe poly bushings wouldnt make the noise, but i have done poly yet, so i couldnt tell ya for sure

that sway bar inner bushing noise is a squeaking...not a clunking. The only reason new bushings stop the noise is because they are lubricated. I no longer have the noise with my poly bushings cause smeared on a crap load of the lubricant they come with.
Wich I believe is silicone based
