URGENT! Car is pissing fluid between block and tranny!

So today I was driving to work and noticed I had a low tire
I pulled into the garage and filled it up, after leaving the spot, I noticed a TON of fluid on the ground
I put the car up on the left and it's PISSING fluid right between the block and transmission (right behind what looks to be a drain plug)
The guys at the garage told me to leave the car as it would be VERY bad to drive it like this.

Luckily I have a spare car. Anyone wanna guess what it is? The guys think it's a pinion seal. They say the transmission is DEFINATELY going to have to come out.
Any idea what this is gonna cost me?

ALOT!
Seems like a seal blew

It's coming right from the bottom. Basically the LOWEST part of the transmission on the frontmost part of it.

well, it's brown. very thin fluid
my oil was recently changed and topped off, and the dipstick is still at the tippy top too.

we think it's gear oil

well, I guess the big question is... how hard is it?
I'm rather handy with a wrench... I've done ALOT with VW transmissions, including completely grenaded ones.

The pricey issue is going to be having someone remove the tranny. Other than that i don't see it being too expensive to replace a seal. Maybe a $150 job if they have to completely open the housing.

Made the crazy discovery that the transmission used engine oil for the lubrication system... that seems so weird to me...

I still use Redline MTL or anything else specifically made for manual trans. before I put regular engine oil back in.

Diagnosis:
Tranny Fluid

Either from: a plug bolt inside the transmission worked it's way loose
or
Bellhousing is cracked
Previous owner may take some responsibility in helping me out.
