Unhappy NEED HELP! Hissing noise, no smoke, poor acceleration.

As I was passing a car on the highway, my car began to stall, all sorts of lights came on randomly, check engine and triangle light with exclamation mark too (sorry not sure what it's called) I managed to drive it slowly while stalling to a gas station. Disconnected MAF and car worked again, I was told I needed a new one so I bought one, put it on and still did the same thing, won't start, when I try to start the car it shakes stalls, eventually turns off. I am driving it with the MAF disconnected (have been for 2 weeks already) I get poor acceleration but the car runs. No smoke whatsoever. Makes hissing noise when I accelerate but stops when I let go of the gas pedal. I usually get 22 mpg and now I get 17.8/ 18 mpg. Any ideas to what the problem could be??

THANKS! I will check this out, I really do hope it's just a hose that popped off!

Another question though,

Will driving the car without the MAF connected/ hose popped off cause the car to completely break down if I take a 2 1/2 hour trip in it?

Isn't the MAF vital to determine fuel/air mixture? I'd hate to see you damage something seriously like cracking a piston or something.

I took a look at it and it was the intercooler hose that popped off, put it back quickly, works great now!

Thanks a lot! I feared it was the turbo going bad! Thankfully just the hose as you said!
