Crank Position Sensor

Low to no input on the sensor... bought a new one today, as well as a new battery. I have been thinking since 3pm on what else it could possibly be to cause it.

Besides the sensor just dying out, and a battery that might have been on its way out... would there be anything else that could've caused it? I can't think of anything else

FYI, the symptoms were basically this, heres the run down:

I was going 74mph steadily, nothing happening at all, and then the dash lights lit, throttle spiked to 3,000rpm and then the engine cut. If I opened the hood, let it cool for a good 5-10 minutes and wiggled the wire a bit, then it would start and drive for a VERY small distance.

so yeah, any other thoughts? my saab tech buddy will maybe have an idea too.

thanks,
chris

That sounds like a crank sensor to me. Car dies out, you let it cool off for a little bit and then it starts up again.

it was a crank sensor, the code even read it out... we swapped it out for a brand new one, as well as a battery and all seems to be good and gravy. but I still wanted to know if anyone could think of any other related problems, I can't deal with the car breaking down again.
