BING BONG! but without code or SID message

I was sitting in my car, parking prake on, car was in R and I was looking for something in my wallet before going into a store.

I started getting repeating "BING BONG OF DOOM" from the SID but no message. I pulled the codes from OBDII and nothing. Is this just a reminder about the parking brake when in gear?

never had it happen before, and I got paranoid, since i am on my first full tank of e85, and I swear it smells like vodka in the car when I am idling

Mine did this the other day. Granted in an SS. No sid message. Parking brake was on. Car was not in gear.

Weird.

Oil pressure or brake fluid are the most common causes of that. Only a few can make that warning.

This happened to me when i was in MA making a sharp turn. I was like wtf my car wants my seatbealt on, but it was already on!!! I drove to NH and was there for some time its about a 1.5hr drive.

I'm about to leave after being in NH for the day when i get that sound again and my oil light comes on just as i'm about to go onto the highway back to BOS. I pull into the gas station and check my oil it was just about bone dry, put a few quarts in and dive two min to my house. Jack up my car and to my surprise my oil pan was cracked. Luckily i had a spare slapped that on and was good to go.

Kinda scary though I really need to invest in a oil pressure gauge.

He might be on to something... my owner's manual says the car is supposed to do that if you are in gear with the e-brake on and the engine running. Then again, my owner's manual is for a 9-3 and stuff. YMMV.

yeah, I mean, I am pretty sure, I was looking for some indicator light and the only one I saw was TCS off, which I had turned off earlier.

you pull the parking brake at 80mph, to initiate a drift... yeah. ok.

You'll enjoy the "how ABS works" drawing involving a scared moose and a vibrating car.

But yes, I would not poop in my pants over it. My car bing-bongs all the freakin time and it's totally fine.

I checked just now, ran out to the parking lot. Brake fluid is full, oil is all there, actually not sure if it's because of how warm the car is but it actually looks on the high side.

so it's gotta be the parking brake thing. hopefully.

now that I think about it, I have never sat there in gear with my foot in the clutch and parking brake that long, I kinda flaked out. when I was looking for something important I thought I forgot.

the manual says if moving and the parking brake is on, bing bong will sound and the triangle will light. I don't know if it considers clutch in to be a sign I am going someplace, but I didn't see the traingle until I stalled the car in my parking spot. as I was trying to figure out bing bong

so I guess that could be it?

so I guess I have to just drive and assume it's fine for now?

Could it have been that your door popped open and made the chime go off?

don't think I had gotten that far yet.

I had music on, so I may not have heard the bing bong, but thinking back, I am semi to very confident it didnt bing bong until I parked and put the e-brake on.

meaning, I saw no warning light, nor triangle... UNTIL I stalled it, then I saw them all light up
