04 9-5 broke down on me.

Hello everyone,

How are you today?

So Wednesday afternoon I was on my way home from class and for some odd reason when I was getting on the accelerator, my Saab started bucking ad hesitating.

I got confused so I started babying it back home and to test I pressed the accelerator passed half way to see if it would act up and it did.

The symptoms were that when I steppe on the gas the car felt as though it would misfire so i pressed the gas lightly to see if it would do the same and it did not.

When I got to a stop light, it seemed as though that the car was fine at the first stop light I came to but then it felt like it was dying out when I started accelerating when the light turned green. It did not die out so when I pulled up about 100 yards to the next stop light that is when it really started puttering so i gave it a little gas to make sure it did not shut off. The light turned green and I went off and the car seemed okay but I was in stop and go traffic so when I was stopped the car died and it did not want to turn on when I cranked it.

Car got towed to the girlfriends and talking to the tow guy he suggested that I replace my fuel filter to start since my knowledge of fuel filter replacement was questionable since I bought the car in January 2015.

Today I just replaced the fuel filter and I have tried cranking the car and the car still will not start.

I am going to go to my house to pick up some of the spare DI cassettes (black) and a spare mass airflow sensor to see if this will be a solution to my problem.

If anybody has any other suggestions that I should try, please let me know because I am always open to reasonable suggestions.

Updating you on the issue;

So I got the spare DI and Mass Air Flow meter, The first thing I did was put the DI cassette in and turned the key. Problem was resolved.

Seems as though that if the DI is going to kick the bucket when your driving it will display symptoms of misfire when really stepping on the gas and at idle it will idle a bit rough before it dies.

I would suggest fellow Saab owners to take note of this for future reference. Also would like to know where one would be able to source a good genuine Saab DI as I have just used mine up?
