Talking The new addition to the saab family

I started looking for a project c900 car around December, an found it yesterday. Drove to new hampshire with dan (snowman41) to pick it up from another tsl'er danf. Thanks to dan for not complaining about the 2 hour highway drive in 4th gear. haha

The car is in amazing shape for its age. Just needs a new transmission, reverse and 5th are dead, and 4th gear usually grinds going in. Clutch engages well, brake pedal is hard, the brakes on the front have plenty of life left. 4 new all season tires came with it as well. Other minor things that need to be done, are por 15 for some rust prevention, new headlights the old ones are fogged up, and either get a new window regulator or convert it to hand crank windows. And some other minor trim pieces are missing and need to be replaced. Everything will be found at a junkyard except perhaps the transmission. I still haven't decided if I should rebuild the current one, or get a known good used one off a junk car.

Now I just need to take a welding class at a local community college, and start soldering the mega squirt board together And I'll be on my way to a kick ass rallycross/winter daily driver saab.

here are some pictures:
Beside my 9k.

Engine bay photos, taken from danf's for sale thread.

Looks like blood in the photo, but appears sort of brown/greenish - like coolant in person. I believe this is the top of the transmission. Pictures taken from under the exhaust manifold, by the battery (passenger side looking in).

Pictures from the front wheel well. Controls arms have some rust, but definitely not rotted.

Lots of tread left on these no name all season tires. 185/65/15's.

An a artsy photo, of the car in the garage.

If you don't feel like soldering the MS board together, I could take it on as a side project here at GES. I've got all the fancy industrial ESD safe assembly stuff and access to any/every part that thing could ever need.

Thanks for the comments.
laxian - what do you want for the regulator? I just need the regulator for the passenger door.
granite - Have you ever assembled a megasquirt device before? I might take you up on that, I'm still trying to wade through the faq and manual.. I think I'm going with megasquirt 1 v3.

Nice! I was wondering who was going to pick that car up

Oh, and if I ever get my act together and put a turbo on my '83 I should be able to start making 3" downpipes for c900 folks...just in case you're interested.

Bently manual is great, Hayes....kinda sucky.

Also, if you're looking for a reasonably priced rebuild c900 trans with the bigger pinion bearings (1989+) we do them at work for $850...shipping would probably cost a bit, but I know that we will ship them pretty much anywhere.

Thanks.. The professionally rebuilt transmission is probably the best option. But i'm trying to do this project car on the cheep. I think saab has c900 transmission manuals, I'm going to try to locate one of those.
