Not a bad price for a world class T5. It is mustang fitment right? The world class T5's from camaros have a very sought after bell housing.

Ive seen these boxes for $400 bucks Used.. and $1000 bucks reco'd..I was happy with my $200 steal.. I'm a ninja eBay buyer .lool

I think it is the Mustang box.. Over here in OZ its the ford box. so its probably the same.. My box came with no bell housing

The Holden commodore box has a much longer input shaft...

The following post may contain a stupid question

Ok....

I'm doing some thinking..

Can I run 2.0 high performance gear on my 2.3 ?

for example:......

Can I run one of these Abbott lightened flywheels on my 2.3 ? Abbott Racing - Lightweight Flywheel - CNC Machined Billet Steel (SAAB 9-3/900GM)

Oh..and I have questions about cams too..

But I got to wait till I'm 100% sure what turbo I'm running..

At this early stage .. I'm going to use a Holset HE351c.Cummins Pickup Truck ISB 5 9L 325HP HE351CW Turbo Charger BY NEW Core | eBay
Mike D put me onto this.. I have done a fair bit of research into these.. and they are a "kick ass" turbo.
It spools like a HX35, but flows like a HX40. And at cooler air temps than both of them.
Good for 450-500 hp..easy

I want cams to make this turbo work to its full potential.
either the "Enems" or the "Abbott" cams.

Chime in anyone and school me.

as far as i am aware, the answer is yes..

all parts are interchangeable between the 2.0 and 2.3. in the end it all comes down to tuning.

That what I thought.

They are the same engine... only the crank and rods are different ..

The crank has to be different to achieve the larger displacement.

Well, when you stroke a sbc, say a 350 to a 383, you generally replace the crank rods and pistons. The different stroke of the crank is what gives you the increase in displacement. The rod length and wrist pin location change to accomodate the larger movement of the piston to avoid hitting the head or to get close enough to get the right compression etc.

That should apply for just about any engine.

For some reason I was thinking about the chevy 305/350. Same crank, same block except for the bore diameters.

Just to throw my .02; this project is going to be light as F--when you compare spool time for your Holset you are comparing them on a full sized Saab with leather seats and a big manchild behind the wheel. I'd personally go with a smaller hot side at the very least...maybe a TD05-20g as an alternative. The mitsu turbo is about the same price of the holset and spools a few hundred rpm earlier.
YMMV

Yes this Celica is light compared to the Saab. The Celica weighs 1.15 ton... The Saab weighs 1.4 Ton.The Saab is an extra 350kg's lool.
I really don't know what turbo I'm going with, To be honest...

I want to make 450hp...and have a turbo that is not too much of a lag monster..

at the moment thinking about..

GT 3071
HE351cw
GTX 3071... <* but is fucking wayyyy expensive*

I'm still early stages in this build so i got plenty of time to think about things.

--------------

I have spent all day at auto paint shops trying to find someone who can mix me up a colour to match the "General Lee".. Not as easy as it sounds.

The paint store I went to only use Australian paint codes..
I think I need to try a shop that uses US paint like PPG.. Cobra

The colour I'm looking for is called "Corvette flame red" or "Red flame https://www.google.com.au/search?q=c...JMaN8Qf9toHYAw

I'll keep searchin..
--------------------------------

If somebody had a good turbo for me too think about...let me know

Just found this thread, awesome build.

I'm in Brisbane and i'm doing a similar build myself.
I picked up a whole Saab 9000 CSE for $300! 2.3L full-pressure turbo engine.

The engine is going into my 1989 BMW e30 coupe, about 1200kg.
The plan so far is to use the bmw getrag 260 gearbox (got one for free, usually around $400). Cut and shunt the bellhousing, i'm a fabricator so welding and machining isn't a problem.
The reason for using the bmw gearbox is that everything from the gearbox back is stock and will take the power, ie. cheaper.

I haven't really started much yet, the saab is still in one piece and i'm trying to sort out what clutch im going to use.

I'll be watching this page for sure. Good luck with the build.
