Jak Stolls knocked it up for me. Don't worry the cam cover will get done, haven't had much time to spare.

Hi guys,

Sorry to necro this thread but I'm new to these forums and wanted to ask about some of the pics.
I've got a '96 9000 Aero and I can see in some of the pics that a few of you have a much sexier looking throttle body than the stock one, namely mcrowley, spgdude and mvadenais.
I was wondering if it's a better part than the stock tb or purely cosmetic and were do I get one?
Cheers

That sexy looking throttle body is used on cars that have TCS (Electronic Throttle). Be thankful you don't have it! Lol.

Haha, fair enough, they just looked so shiny I figured they were an after market part.
I heard that TCS is a real PITA.

I want to know more about this heated washer fluid business. That sounds like a really useful way to crack a windshield.

I picked up that same heated windshield washer thing from a 9000 in a junkyard near me; I had no idea it was a Saab accessory.

My 9-2x (and I'm sure many other cars) had heated washer fluid from the factory as part of the "winter package" -- it's a nice feature. Which is why I grabbed that one from the junkyard.

The washer fluid is heated by coolant, so it won't get super hot until the car is warmed up. At that point, it's likely that warm air is already starting to warm up the windshield. So, maybe that helps to minimize any chance of cracking due to temperature differences...

Interesting thread. One oddity though? Seems every photo is of a a 9000 lumbered with the Traction Control system. Which in the least means these are all older 9000's

Not sure what the year breaks are, but I thought it was optional on newer ones as well..

Actually, it's the opposite. TCS was not available on the older 9000's.

For US Market:
'86-'91: Pre-TCS
'92: 9000 Turbos had TCS
'93: 9000 turbos (i.e. 9000 CSE and 9000 Aero) had TCS
'94, '95, '96: TCS optional
'97,'98: TCS not available

I think.

Older to me is 2.3's before TCS was deleted. Which is what '95?. (off button did Dick)
So TCS was a 3 year misadventure, dare we say Mistake.

Some day I may achieve this level of cleanliness...

Haha. Yeah, that little fella was in my garage for the longest time, and after I'd have friends over, I'd find him in the weirdest places. It was a running joke for a couple years. We never knew where he'd show up.
