Thanks for your help. The problem was the barb at the end of the cable working loose at the pedal end (a mechanical failure). I put a small split washer over the end of the barb and closed it so the barb cannot work loose out of the pedal slot. I also made a bracket of 1/8" scrap copper plate that bolts to the throttle arm where the cable attaches to take the slack out of the cable so the car can be driven with the cable instead of the non operable ETS. It downshifts a little funny sometimes but is now driveable. I did contact Yuval of Ultima LTD the throttle rebuiler in Waltham MA. He has been most helpful and should be listed on your webiste as a valuable resource. I will bite the bullet and pay a dealer to retrive the codes with a Tech 2 or ISAT so please let me know of any recommendations. On another note, if I do replace this model with a less troublesome one, I would like your recommmdations on which model to choose. I don't know the differences in the various models (900, 9000, CS, Aero, etc.) and would like your input on which one to choose. I would like a turbo, stick possibly a wagon mid 90's and I don't need all the bells and whistles. Thanks again for your help. I will let you know on the safety solenoid and if mine is defective.
