900/9-3 Serpentine Belt thread.

This is the best I could come up with. When 2 PK numbers are offered, i would suggest maybe going with the small of the 2 numbers. I will order a 6PK1800 for my car and give this theory a shot.

900 model 94-98
Stock:
49 04 728 aka 6PK2635

Short Belt (bypass middle idler)
49 61 066 aka 6PK2455

AC Delete belt and (not bypass middle idler)
43 95 406 aka 6PK2345 or 6PK2350?

AC Delete belt and (bypass middle idler)
49 61 058 aka 6PK1815

9-3 model 99-03(Vert)
Stock:
49 61 066 aka 6PK2345 or 6PK2350

AC Delete belt
49 61 058 aka 6PK1800 or 6PK1805

AC Delete belt Eary 9-3 with 4356127 Upper Idler Pulley
Up to Vin # X2028400
6PK1815

Also, if I have any mistakes, please let me know.

Great idea to pull all of this together into one place and sticky it. For the OG 9-3 belts, I believe the owner's manual goes with:

AC
6pk2345

Halp! My AC compressor wants to kill my belt (aka no AC aka short belt):
6pk1805

I've had both of those belts on the car and they run just fine. Then again, you already know that Tweek.

P.S. You're right, my engine bay is filthy.

Goodyear Gatorback 4060967/6PK2455 with the Wazee idler pulley puts the marker at exactly the correct half way between the lines on my 1997 900SE bypassing the middle idler for the short belt mod.

He used to have them on his website. I don't have them off hand but the pulley is almost dead on, maybe a hair bigger. I also have one on my '99 9-3 and kept the stock belt. Still well within the markings on the tensioner.

I just talked to a mechanic about running a short belt on my 1997 ng900 and he said you can run a 6pk2415 but it needs to be super tight? I just called NAPA and asked how much it would cost and they said 53?! but when I looked at eeuroparts its like 30 bucks.

Why would you do that? Buy the Gatorback that is 6pk2455 from Goodyear. It is a good belt and cheap ($30) because it is the same belt that is used on several of GM's truck motors.

Not to resurrect a dead thread but, I too just installed a 6pk2440 on my 1995 NG900 2.0L Turbo. It fits perfect, and was only 38 bucks.

Having trouble getting the short belt on bypassing middle idler. I have a ribber wazee pulley in there. I do have a brand new stock belt on hand too. I may throw that on.

Sure you have it routed the right way? Should actually be easier then going around it.

Yeah, that one is for when you use the AC.

Drewz...if you're using the Wazee pulley you need a slightly shorter belt than the 9-3 one.
