Feeler for SS group buy

Hope this is ok to post here but I am trying to gauge some interest in a short shifter group buy. They are made by someone in Belgium, for those on SC his username is KurBads. Great guy great product. Here is the info:

Quote:
Produced in the EU. Steel shaft, solid steel swing bearing (as compared to plastic from SaabSavior), aluminium bearing housing, aluminium lower ball.Plug`n`play. Ready to drop in and drive off. I have to check for the latest prices for the material and the machining cost. depending on that I`ll be able to set the price but normally it should be 155-160 USD plus shipping from EU. If we get a group buy of 10, 15 or more shifters, cost goes down. Shifter retains reverse lockout just need to transfer over the wire.

Stock length, minus 2 cm or any specific length possible.

I have one and I love it. It is excellent quality and well worth it compared to the standard slop on the stock shifter.

If you are interested post here and if there is enough interest I guess I will start a group buy thread.

Hell, I was going to make some here, but that's cheap enough that I'd consider just buying one, lots of projects going on.

Tentatively interested.

I know you say it is a short shifter, how much shorter is it over stock? or is it just an all aluminum.

you know that short shifter refers to shorter throw right? and he says you can get it as long/short as you want. I got mine a little shorter than stock and I think it is just the right height.

so, I registered here and found this thread.

I`m giving here the link to a group buy thread currently on other forum Group buy: Short-shifter - SaabCentral Forums

and also info which has been posted there:

------------

- Produced in the EU.
- tried and tested. I`ve been using them in my cars already for some 3 years with no sign of fatigue. It`s been made for and sent to SAAB nuts in Belgium, Holland, France, Latvia, USA and I have not heard anyone coming back with an issue (hope sombody from SC members with my shifter might come in and say what they think of it)
- Steel shaft, solid steel spherical bearing (as compared to plastic from SaabSavior), aluminium bearing housing, adjustable aluminium lower ball.
- Plug`n`play. Ready to drop in and drive off.
- Stock length, minus 2 cm or any specific length possible (your choice).

Provides:
- shorter travel shifts (let me check but shifter top end moves ~ twice shorter distance that stock. Let mer check once again)
- much more precise that your original and already worn SAAB shifter
- shockproof design, no plastic part present, should last forever under normal use
- lower sitting shifter knob if you choose shorter version (I know many people complain of stock shifter sitting to high)
- no more palstic cup/springloaded intallation manevring, just drop in and turn 3 screws
- reverse lockout functionality is retained and you`ll just need to transer wire, spring and pin from the original SAAB shifter
- original black plastic lockout lift piece and original knob fits right on, so from outsider it looks plain stock (apart from length)
- written installation instructions accompany every shifter, it takes some 20-30 minutes to get it in, adjusted and ready.

One thing to note - as this shifter (and the same goes for SAAB Savior and Erikkson shifters) uses steel spherical bearing, it`s not fixed agains turning. This in reality mean that you`ll be able to turn the shifter clock/anti-clock if you want, you may find it off the perfect position occasionally. The gaiter will keep it more or less straight. Rubber gaiter better that leather. Honestly, this is no issue for me (using this shifter in two of mine c900) but I want make it clear so people are aware. Again, this is the same for any short-shifter of this design.

Normal price is 160$ (or equivalent in other currency). If I do get a group of 10-15 we go down to 155$, 15-20 we go down to 150$ + shipping to US (and CAN) 25$, AUStralia is 30 $, will check Europe and other parts of the world if there is anyone interested. I guess I would ask for a downpayment on my PayPal beforehand as I need to buy material and be sure that I do make the shifter which will be bought and won`t stay on my shelf.

Please, let your name down replying here or send an e-mail to KRBDxx at gmail

So, it looks like this. The shifter and type of bearing used.

Short-Shifter: next steps

So, It seems I have seen interest from around 10-15 persons. Now, in order to proceed further I would ask to pay:
- 155 USD per piece + 25 USD shipping to USA/CAN (30 USD to AUS).
- send money to my PayPal at gints.zadraks[at]gmail.com
- let me know of how many (one, two or more) shifters and which length (stock or shorter) you want
- give me your address for shipment
- if someone wants to combine two or more shifters in one shipment, please let me know via e-mail so that I can check for the shipping cost.

Upon receiving payment I start cutting material and machining the shifter.
Please, do the abovementioned in order to commence machining.
