Thumbs up T5'd the SPG

So last monday, I headed up to miked's place to get a wiring harness from the tally hes got.

I sat around for most of the week, but on Wednesday night I had pulled all the tape and junk off the harness I got.

After looking at the NG wiring diagram for about ahalf hour, and talking it over with mike. I found the 4 wires that I needed for power. lol yeah thats right. When using an NG harness, along with the quite convenient plug, there are only 5 wires that you need to supply with power to get things running. Past the Plug on the car side of an NG t5 harness, most powers are spliced much further into the T5 harness. Makes things quite simple and clean.

Also last Monday, mike helped me(he did all of it) put on the CPS wheel/kit I got from squaab. While its a nice kit, some things both mike and I thought could have been done a bit differently.

Anyways, this morning, I layed the harness on top of the engine, put in the DI, and plugged in the injectors, and the other sensors, but left them hanging. I powered up the 5 leads T5 needed with a jumper cable right to the battery. Hopped in the car, turned the key, and holy shit, it started right up. I was like, theres no way in hell it should be this easy.

So for now, it runs, I just need to sort out the various powers that need to be relayed, as well as senors, and other little things like the tach, lengthing plugs and so on. And make it look pretty.

More pics to follow, as well as a wiring diagram!

Oh yes!, it was about DAMN TIME you got that damn tally...Not at all what I was looking for at first. Thinking I wanted a T5 harness from a 95 9000. But then moved onto a NG for the ECU location. But then eneded up with a 1997 OBD II T5 harness from an automatic.....only to find out, none of that OBDII or being from an auto mattered at all. Good info to know, as well as new ways to T5 a c900.

again, thanks.

The harness on my 89 is an obd2 aswell. Also dan I need a small favor, when you have the time could you check the voltage for the rpm signal? tia

Yeah, well, I've been a lazy ass.

I've only gotten the IAT sensor mounted so far.

On the "bright" side, got my lights today

i think a 1995 Ng harness would be best, there is alot less cutting and spliving with this harness due the Ngs layout. its great,,

The ng harness is nice,, there is not need to splice in the MAP, all the powers are more concise, and there is more wire room to play with.

even though there is no "grey plug" there is still a large plug that works as a great disconnect for the entire harness. it really is a good deal.

And, it means i have actully found something Ng900 are good for, prior to this i just assumed them worthless

Where did you get the CPS wheel/kit from and any details on that?

I'm parting out my 97 NG900 so I'm thinking I'll use that to T5 my SPG instead of dealing with megasquirt.

I got the cps kit from squaab over from saabcentral. He did a group buy.

I will say first that its a nice set up, makes sense, and engineered well. Sure a few things could have been different but o well. One thing that was retarded was the price, but I bit the bullet and got it.

I'd look here for a cps wheel set up: http://www.saablink.net/forum/showthread.php?p=768018

On a side note, I need a 2.1 N/A c900 TB. Any one got one?

Alright, did get some "work" done today on the SPG.

I pulled out Mr. Jetronshit, labeled some wires, traced some wires, and scratched my head alot. Just gotta find out if the relay triggers off T5 are 12volts and not ground. Then solder everything together I guess.

As I would like it, I'm going to reuse the stock fuel pump relay, and main relay. Should all work out nicely. I'm trying to keep as many systems from T5, to that of what will be left over of Jetronic.

T5 mess.
