How to T5 a c900, the easy way

((EDIT)) FOR COMPLETE WRIGHTUP SEE PAGE 3 OF THIS THREAD

after doing some research, I've decided to dive into a T5 conversion on my vert,, thankfully i think its alot easier than many of us have made it out to be.

today i got the CPS and CPS bracket squared away, this went surprisingly smooth, thankfully SPGBEE88 had an extra motor i could use as a template for the process.

the bracket is made from a saab motor hook, (one that bolts onto head, bolt holes are the exact same length apart as two bolts on oil pump cover) and some scrap of mettle i had sitting around the house.

here's what they look like

the crank wheel fits conveniently over the c900 AC pulley, so after getting everything mounted, i lined up the CPS sensor with the wheel, made my marks and tacked away.

here's the outcome.

hears the splice list for what is needed to be cut and added

-speed sensor, this can be found in the 2.4 ecu connector, this is the easiest spot to get to it
-brake switch, no need to tap into this. T5 doesn't need to know your on the brake
- fuel pump trigger, found in 2.4 plug, make sure that you power the relay properly, going straight from ECU to to fuel pump will overload the cicut on the computer and shorted the ECUs life. this relay is located above the old Jetronic ECU inside the car on the passengers footwell.
-Tach wire, Pin 7 on ignition amp, right next to APC box. both pin 7 and pin 1 are blue wires,, pins are listed on ignition amp itself not harness.
- upshift shift light Why would i ever want this???? leave it out. (if you want this, look to jetronic ECU plug)
-main relay , main relay is located above Jetronic ECU housing. youll need a wire going in to tell it to turn on, to to tap into an output wire for the injectors, AIC and other large items in the motor bay.
-always hot(+12) power
getting power to the ECU is a one of the more difficult pieces. the T5 ECU needs one always HOT (+12) lead, this is Pin 1, tap into the battery or distribution block.
after this there is one switched power,, for this look to the main relay (located next to power steering reservoir)

-ground all the needed ground for a 9000 bolt to the intake manifold, these grounds power the ECU. the holes in the 9000 harness are to small to be put anywhere on a 900 intake manifold. you have 3 options.
1, drill out ground lugs
2 cut/crimp new ground lugs on
3 screw to throttle body, my TB has a blockoff plate on the top of it, this allen screw is the right side, and shows 0 voltage drop. TB= WIN (atleast for me)

later series saab 900 turbos (like my 1993) use a 2 wire AIC valves, this is compatible with T5.

2.1 throttle body's have the proper TPS sensor simply swap the TB out

change out
- fuel injectors. and fuel rail/ FPR. 9000 turbos all have 3.0 bar FPRs, this can be achived buy either using an NA FPR, or swapping out to a full 9000 fuel rail. (some fab required for 9k rail)

-coolant temp sensor.
- O2 sensor.

the T5 wiring harness from a 9k is mostly ready to go how you pull it out, but some prep is required.

first, you should simply familiarize yourself with it, so you know what all the plugs are, i also found it very helpful to un-do much of the factory tape, this way i could pull on a wire from a sensor and see where it ends up. (IE undoing tape makes tracing easyer)

when you redo the harness note that the IAT and DI plug will need to be separated, there's plenty of wire to spread over the harness, but there very tightly bound on the 9k harness.
organize the harness also, this makes life years easier.

when pulling the harness from a 9k, cut the grey plug off on the car end, with as much wire hanging out as possible, this wire gets spliced, in this grey plug there are main power leads to your injectors AIC valve, DI, and computer... very very very important grey plug

pics posted tomorrow

any questions just ask, i must have missed something...

Did you post that drunk? The engrish is painful to read

Anyways, good job! I look forward to updates!

Out of curiosity, what T5 ECU are you using? It's my understanding that you want to use a T5 setup from a 9000, and not a NG900 since you don't have to deal with the speed sensors and abs and other things...

correct, on the drunk, and the 9000 T5 ECU part, i want to use a 94/95, non TCS ECU, this is do to its OBD1 nature. my wireing harness is from a 1995 LPT 5spd

the ABS is integrated into a T5 harness, and seams to piggyback onto a few of the ECUs wires, however, i shouldnt need to adapt that ABS system to make T5 work, ill just let the extra plug hang. Also a c900 has its own independent ABS system, it works great on my car, so i'm going to let sleeping dogs lie,

Nice! Seems like this might even be a cheaper alternative to MS at this point, with T5 suite and junkyard parts.

that was my thinking also,, and with T5 you get DI in the process, as well as a pre programmed map,, this eliminates all the software headaches that MS has to just get a running car

EDIT, that grey plug is not to the ABS ecu, its the disconnect for removing a motor from the car,, this plug contains all the wires that will needed to be cut and re directed to make a c900 run on T5

some more progress to be had,, the T5 wireing harness is totaly sorted out. the grey plug on on the harness simply goes to all the all the interior functions that a 9000 has,, and a few other bits.(many of which wont be needed)

hears the list of what goes though that plug thats vitally important.
-map sencer
-tach
-speed sencer
-main relay
-DI, main power lead (one wire)
-Fuel injector main power lead (one wire) this lead also goes to the -AIC valve.
-shift up light

i intend to use the c900 relay board,, so i cut the car end of the grey plug off with a foot of wires attached to it,, and splice away.

planned location for everything is still in the works, but as of now im thinking of removing the APC box and putting the ECU there. more details to come when more progress is made

IAT is mounted,, the best/easyest way i could figure out was to find the old style delevery pipe ( says " turbo intercooler" on it) and to drill out the O in turbo. IAT thread size is 10mm 1.25 thread pitch.

nobody seams to care about spelling... or atleast i don't.

once it's running all will be documented, right now my CPS wheel is not properly centered on the crank, so the ECU was not pulsing the injectors, should have wheel centered within 48 hours

pics of IAT sensor mounted

LH2.4 that can't idle with big injectors is all in with pocket 2's.

Also, Mike D just called. His car is running on T5 fueling right now, he will be getting the direct ignition done in a few days.
