Has anyone ever done one on a 9000? Was thinking about it, but Im not sure whats the best way to go about it or if its even advisable on our cars.

You could use one of the freeze plug type heaters, I had one in a corolla I had a few years back. It was nice, but the extra few moments in the freezing cold having to plug/unplug it was entirely too much work, and I ended up never using it and just dealing with the extra few minutes of cold in the morning till the car warmed up.

Unless your temperatures constantly hit below -20 I wouldn't worry with a block heater. Just add a small
100 watt oil pan heating pad 100 watt oil pan heating pad
and call it good. Even when it got down to -30 in Alaska I only ran my block heater for two hours before I drove off in the morning. Most important things were synthetic oils (including power steering), good coolant that won't freeze and a battery charger. Some people installed battery warmers, but a charger will keep your battery in top charge even at -50 and you can still use it in the summer if you ever need to charge a 12v battery.

Canadian Saabs came with a factory fitted Block heater.
It's screwed in beside/near the crank position sensor.
