Take it for a spin. If you can hook up a boost gauge and check for boost consistency. Check the throttle body, check for bad plugs, check ALL electronics, check for PCV update, check the CPS, if the car has 70k chances are it needs replaced.. Check the evap system..Take the DumpValve aluminum hose off and look for oil in the intake.. Do full turns so see if the ball boint is in good condition.. See if the sunroof is sticking..
Basicly just use some common sense and CHECK EVERYTHING. Also, if you can bring the car to a shop and have the TECH 2 look at it.
Common failure items are the CPS, DI Cassette, and rear shocks -- All of which I had to replace not long after I bought my 2000 9-5 Aero at 84k. The good news is that these items are easy to replace.
