adjusting throttle cable?

when disconnecting the throttle cable, and re-attaching, it seems like it has a little bit of play(loose).

how do I adjust it? it should be somewhat taught, yes?

WIS mentions the "throttle cam" and the using the clip to adjust, but I am not 100% clear.

do I want it as taught as can be, or with some slack (it mentions taking the clip one step back after getting it "properly tensioned")

You do not want it too tight. Otherwise you will have a mess when the cable warms up and gets a little tighter. Might be easiest to count the ridges now and go back to same. Otherwise just see how much play there is now in the cable and put it back to same. The clip holds it in, and adjusts it. Just make sure it is not tight. Thats all. You are making it way too hard. :) Just dig in..
