Probably the most useful interior "mod" (if you can even classify it as that) that I have put into my car so far. That space is pretty much dead space with the ashtry.
I'm sure that it is very functional but, it looks so trailer park'ish,
Don't mean to be hate'n, but I think think all them wires running all over is
kinda ugly!
I used one of those wired FM modulators. I got it at Crutchfield and then some European radio antenna adapters at Circuit City. For a while I just had the whole mess of tangled wires in my glovebox but I finally got around to neatening it up a bit a coupe weeks ago. The modulator box and its wires are neatly stuffed into an old sock so they don't vibrate on anything, then then the sock is in the little cover that you take off to get to the cabin air filter. The little green switch is to turn on and off the modulator so I drilled a hole in the glovebox for that. When not in use I just throw my iPod into the glovebox. Please excuse the disgusting dirtiness of my car. I rarely clean it during the winter here in CT as it will look just as dirty in about 3 days.
looks nice raquettlaker, could you run that wire under the molding and have it exit between teh carpet right by the shifter? that would look much neater. what part of ct are you in?
Yeah I guess you could do that. All behind that dash piece that runs between the glovebox door and the gray dash trim is empty. You could just run the wire behind there and poke it through. I just wanted to be able to hide mine when it wasn't in use. Looking at SaabScott's pictures though, I like the little input where the switch blank is next to the seat heater switch. I'm going to keep in mind that I might be able to do something like that. That would be even cleaner and then I could still hide the cord and ipod in the glovebox. I'm in Canton, CT over near Avon and Simsbury, about 30 min. west of Harford. Where are you?
Talk about a great place to live .
We should have a meet at one of the casino's sometime.
