I recently bought a 2001 9-5 with 51k miles on it. I am servicing everything on it right now. I will be changing the transmission fluid next. Any recommendations on brand/type etc???
I haven't read that, not sure. Though now that I think about it, your 2001 will have the 4speed auto in which case I am fairly certain you can use the cheaper stuff. Dexron III maybe? I really don't know. Sorry.
My car has the 5speed automatic which requires a JWS3309 spec transmission fluid.
I ended up using Castrol Dexron VI. None of the Autoparts stores had Dexron III.
The fluid was between brown and red. Now the cars shifts much smoother now in addition to a motor oil change with Motul. Im going to do another change next month.
