Hey,
Iam tearing apart the 2.3 in the 1999 2.3LPT 9-5 I bought a wile back.
I was HOPING to find the crank in serviceable condition but I am not so sure now!!!
I still need to take it to the machine shop to have it looked at but I got to thinking is my crank from my 2.0 engine might work.
I know the bore is the same, and the blocks look identical. The pistons are definately different, even came from different castings (2.3 pistons are dished).
The conn rods are also different, the 2.3 rods are shorter (makes sense since it is stroked). But I am unsure of the crank!?!?!?!
Is it the same? I am wondering if they make up the .3 L difference by just shortening the rods but if you shorten the rods, wouldn't you want to change the crank as well?
They sure look the same......
Tboy
