This is how I installed the my speakers in terms of wiring: cut the factory speaker connector, a connector for the new speaker wire, and female quick disconnects.

No problem Ryan, I thought I would post this up because it seems like way too good of a resource to not share.

I looked at the wire colors and the polarity they possessed before I cut the speaker connector, other than that trial and error: you have a 50/50 shot.

Hey, can we also get the speaker sizes for each of the 3 speaker placements? I know you can put 6.5's in the doors and tweeters in the dash, but what would fit, rear speaker wise, for a hatchback?

6x9's are drop in. Anything will fit if your willing. I put in 6.5" mid's with a 1" tweeter using a custom adapter and some slight trimming.

I believe they are the same
3.5's in the dash
5 1/4 or 6 1/2 maybe shallow mount
6x9 drop in for the rear, or if you buy from Crutchfield, they will send a adaptor that will allow you to put 5 1/4 or 6 1/2 coaxial or component set.

People love paying $$$ for easy work, when a little bit of wrenching does the trick. Yes, $575 gets you a nice system if you do it yourself.

Can someone confirm the what size rear speakers fit in a viggen convertible?

Crutchfield told me it's a 6.75" in the rear, not 6x9.

They also told me I couldn't fit 6.75" in the doors, but I've read other people have done it without too much trouble.

This thread is great, since I'm looking at finally upgrading the sound system!
