Hello,
I just got done doing a head gasket on a 2.3 DOHC N/A, I got it resurfaced, a valve job with new valves and valve seals. It ran fine for about a mile then while it was idling parked in a parking lot, it just died. I started it back up but it had a really bad miss, and the cat was glowing red hot. I towed it home and tested for spark and fuel which were both ok, and I replaced the MAF sensor but it still had a miss.
I let it sit for a few weeks and I tried it today, but it was still missing. I pulled the codes and only got 12231 (which is because the engine wasn't running), and I got 12111 while the engine was running. I disconnected the battery and held the brakes for about 5 seconds to drain the capacitors. I reconnected the battery and the car ran perfect and drove for about 1 mile. Then it would only die after letting off the gas or coming to a stop. So I drove it home and parked it in the driveway. It died as I came to a stop in my driveway, and when I started it, it was missing again but hasn't thrown any more codes for me to pull.
I pulled out the fuel injectors while they were still on the rail, and checked for spray which was also working fine. I also put hose clamps on the rubber sleeves that are on the intake manifold in case they were leaking air and all the vacuum lines are in god condition and connected properly. At this point the only options I see that I have left is replacing the 02 Sensor, and tearing down and reassembling the intake manifold.
This is my first Saab, i'm not real familiar with these cars, and I need some help with this one. I've been doing as much research on this issue as possible, but i'm not getting anywhere but broke. Please Help!
