engine will not turn over, but battery&starter good?

Over the past year there have been random days where my car will not start. The lights come on, stereo, fuel pump, and everything really. However, the starter is non-responsive. If I wait a couple hours it will start right up and would never give me a problem for months. Now the car will not start at all. I've pulled the battery and starter to have them checked, both were fine. Replaced key battery and still nothing. Has anyone come across the problem before or maybe shoot some ideas at me?

I would be inclined to take a good look at the ignition switch. My car behaves this way from time to time and I am personally convinced that the switch is the culprit. I would do a search for how to test it with a volt meter and proceed.

Does the tach move when you turn it over?

If not, suspect CPS.

Also....check the ignition switch AND the lower body ground wire coming off the tranny mount and extending to the frame.

All I got.

The tack doesnt move but probably because the engine doesnt even turn over.
I went through the CPS problems couple years ago and replaced it too.

Guess I'll roll the car into the carport and check for that ground wire.

I Usually just replace the ground cable. It gets that right out of the way first.

If it's neutral safety switch acting up, sometimes it will start if you put the shifter in Neutral and then try it.

Ignition switch, both battery cables, positive lug on the back of the starter, are all common issues with the 9-3/9-5's for no-crank condition. Starters every once in a while, but very rarely.
