ECM Problems

Well i took the viggen into the local Saab shop to get inspection and emissions done to it and the mech. called me about a half hour later saying that he could not get the TECH II to connect to the ECM and that this was a huge problem if i wanted to get a test for emissions. I have no clue why this is happeneing but i figured id throw it out here to see what you guys thought. He wants to repair it but said it would cost alot, so id like to find out the problem for myself to be more cost effective. thanks alot

Do you have tuned software and by who? I know Jameson was having this same sort of issue with his viggen and Nordic software during SOC last year. I don't remember what the solution was though.

Try getting your inspection testing done
somewhere else before spending any cash.

Good luck!

I'd give scanwest a call first and talk to them. If worst comes to worst assuming you've got your stock turbo still with this tune you could just have the shop put in a stock ECU, see if the TECH II will be able to talk with the ECU, do the inspection with stock software and then go back to your Abbott ECU.

x2

They could just be telling you a story to get some extra $ on top of the inspection fee.

hey thanks for all the suggestions.. i took it out of there before he could charge me an arm and a leg and i got a local gas station to look at it just for the sticker purpose and they passed me but i still need to figure out this problem with the ecm not being read by the tech2 device. He said it might be my software or it just might be the ecu itself, so im thinking of switching to nordic software, any other advice on the situation

It has to do with adding the new software to a 99. If they connect as a 00 9-5/9-3 you should have no issues.
