Airbag warning light.

I hit a larger bump last night, and my airbag warning light came on, along with the "!" on the dash.

Anything I should check?

I've had this come on twice in the Viggen, like months and months apart from each other. I consulted my certified Saab tech friends, and was told it is likely one of the sensors in the seat, not necessarily the steering wheel.
I decided to let it go as it has happened so infrequently, and has shut off both times.

Did it come on and stay on? Your answer would probably decide my course of action.

We had an '01 9-3 base come in with the light on. It was a coming from the sensor in the door, the woman didn't want to spend money on it. The next week she came back in... the side airbag deployed when she went over a bump so not only did she have to buy a new door sensor but she also had to buy a new side airbag and upper seat skin.

I've had the same thing happen to me with my 94 -NG900 Took it to the shop twice and after resetting the codes it went away. About three months later it came back on. - codes didn't come up with anything. was told the air bag could work in an accident but it could also not work... - if someone finds a fix, let me know. - recently it's been going on and off repeatedly. - Don't mind the lights so much it's the dinging that kills me....

It came on, and stayed on.

I have started the car 4-5 times now.

The accidental deployment scares me.

My airbag light would come and go. After 6 months or so, it finally stayed on. I had to replace the "clock spring" behind the steering wheel.

Oh, great.

Everything I have read about that says it's LOADS of fun.

I guess I'll have to get the code read soon, and put my seat back a bit.

clock spring is easy to swap out.
The part that is no fun is swapping a steering wheel and trying not to break it.

I need to get mine fixed too. '99 9-3, I had the local saab place hook up the tech II and check the code/reset it. It was something on the passenger side, the light stayed off for a while but turns on/off randomly. Lately it's been staying on all the time, and it won't pass inspection in July if it's not off. Booo! I read something (TSB?) about faulty wiring harnesses in the '99 9-3's but I'm not really too excited to rip out my seats/interior to diagnose the problem... ugh..
