Running out of ideas for possible oil consumption problem (oil smelling smoke)

I bought a 01 93 Turbo se..worked fined then smoked (out of exhaust) like a chimney...
Replaced turbo, still smoking a bit and burning oil at intermittent times. Replaced PCV still seems to burning oil? I have been using 5w30 in this 28-50f weather and realize thats an issue, I believe after all is said in done this car has gone through 8 quarts of oil. Could it be another issue, wrong oil? Or just left over crap from oil the oil in exhaust or all the above? I am close to selling this car and just cutting my losses as I am not a tinkerer and I just want a car thatll run how it should and need just routine mait. Its worth mentioning when I check the oil theres been a small amount of oil around the cap that seems to escape.. all ideas welcome.
One more thing, the exhaust is absolutely caked with black soot and chucks of dirt/oil mixute prob put about 20 miles on her since fixing the pcv a couple days ago..
