New MAF- car sputtering

So I recently replaced my mass air flow sensor, because I got a code with a check engine light for it. I had a couple of techs. at work check it out, and they all were pretty sure it would solve the problem. Regardless of the weather, whenever I was driving the car, at completely random times, or even on startup, the car would start sputtering and stall. If I was on the highway I would have to hold in the clutch and rev it just to keep it running. A couple months ago, I did new spark plugs and ignition casette, because they were needed as well. And now, the car is still doing it. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks.

Did you plug the sensor back in? Installed the right way? CEL?

My car is doing the same thing. I had a problem before, but it stopped, but now it's back again and it's taking 4 times to actually get the car to start! What the fuck!?!?

I had this probelm last year with the weather and now it's happening again!! Anyone know what the cause of it is? I mean, my car i a 2003 with 102k miles on it. That shoudn't be happening! My second car is a '94 volvo 850 with 200k on it and it starts up fine everytime, no matter how the weather is.

Try the CPS(crankshaft position sensor). I went through the same thing recently and that was the cause.

I would say with regard to starting I would look at your FPR.

Here is the order of operations for such running/starting issues.

1. Check/Replace spark plugs
2. Check/Replace VAC lines
3. Check/Replace FPR

Beyond these things you need to start looking at. DIC, FP, and MAF/MAP.

What have you done so far? Other than MAF of course...

BTW I replaced my MAF today. Because of a idling issue I was having. When I sat at idle in traffic the RPM's would drop a few hundred sputter and almost stall then pick back-up. So far I seem to have nailed it. The only remaining thing it could be is the FP since I have done everything else above.

Or you all keep forgetting your throttle bodies since in T7 there is no AIC.

Actually I did take care of that last year. So I am sure I am covered there. But, thanks for reminding me, I accidentally left it off the list...
